Building Envelope

ARSEE stands as a leader in the consulting engineering industry while having developed significant expertise with exterior wall assemblies and roofing systems.

Our work with building envelopes over the last 40+ years includes new design, peer review, investigation, and repair. We have developed a wide variety of façade, waterproofing and specialty roofing designs for hundreds of buildings throughout the Midwest and eastern United States. We utilize aerial equipment and other advanced technologies to investigate and assess all types of envelope problems on both modern and historic buildings. We can address issues ranging from water leaks to structural failures in a wide variety of building systems.

Assessments

Condition assessments are designed to evaluate the building’s performance, while prioritizing repair recommendations for all types of building envelope systems. They are also useful in establishing a baseline to identify and document the deterioration present. Every structure and its history are unique; thus, each assessment is individually tailored to meet the client’s specific needs. ARSEE has performed condition assessments and made repair recommendations on hundreds of structures throughout Indiana and across the United States.

Materials

We have completed hundreds of projects involving the design, investigation, replacement, and repair of building envelopes. ARSEE has an extensive history of experience with a significant number of building envelope materials. Our designs have developed innovative repair concepts for brick, concrete block, terra cotta, limestone, granite, sandstone, and field stone, as well as cast stone, precast concrete, stucco, EIFS, curtainwall and metal panel systems, and sloped roof structures supporting clay tile and slate.

technology

ARSEE utilizes aerial access equipment to gain an up-close vantage point when investigating building envelope surfaces. When that equipment cannot provide the desired access or other site conditions prevent us from getting within an arm’s length of the structure, our unmanned aerial drone vehicles and crawler robot are used to aid in the documentation effort. In addition to these devices, ARSEE has the ability to perform thermal imaging, capture 3-dimensional and 360 degree images, and view the hidden interior construction of cavity walls and other similar structures with our high definition videoscope. Whatever the challenge, ARSEE is ready to identify the deficiencies present and offer remedial recommendations.
